Installed in Lankaster’s Vault, High Street, Southampton this temporary piece explored the history of merchant import and export against the vaulted architecture of the vault. The second of three pieces produced as part of a Section 106 agreement with Linden Homes and Southampton City Council

Thousands of empty wine bottles are installed in clear acrylic bottle holders to create a doorway/wall dividing the space. Non-invasive fixings were developed with Arup engineering to ensure the piece was secure, but not damaging the listed buildings structure. The LED lights beneath the bottles wash through a range of muted greens and blues which create a water-like effect within the space.
